Western Cluster Limited, which holds three iron ore mining concessions in western Liberia, has launched a “Safe Drinking Water Project” targeting villages around its Bomi Hills concession area as part of the company's corporate social responsibility.

Under the Safe Drinking Water Project, Western Cluster Limited is funding the construction of 11 new hand pumps and the repair of 6 existing hand pumps in 15 villages within Bomi County, while the Liberian National Red Cross Society local chapter in Bomi County will be the implementing partner.

The project, which was launched in Bola Village near the Bomi Mountains, is geared towards increasing access to safe drinking water in communities within the Bomi Hills concession.

Western Cluster Limited said the project is the company's initiative of assisting local communities that are in need of basic social amenities.

These CSR projects are being done by WCL that are in addition to US$ 2 million Social Contributions already paid to the Government of Liberia in October 2011 as the company's annual contributions to Bomi, Cape Mount and Gbarpolu– the three counties forming part of the Western region of the country where the company is operating.
