AFELL, KTK Create More Awareness On Grand Bassa

The Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL) was in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County on June 28-29, 2012 spreading domestic violence message at a town hall awareness meeting with over 200 persons from all districts and the various communities including representatives from the JPC, BAWODA, Grand Bassa Marketing Association and the Grand Bassa Girls Guide Association.
 
At these meetings and training of trainers sessions, AFELL's President Teplah Reeves was accompanied by her co-facilitator Atty. Williams who cautioned the participants to engage more women to get involved because knowledge gain and not transferred is of no use.
 
AFELL's awareness campaign is sponsored by the Kvinna till Kvinna which stresses that all participants use the knowledge gained to guide the society because women when better brings safety to societies as well as sanity.
 
The kinds of domestic violence discussed during the interactive workshop were metal and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, scaring of partner, name calling, not revealing sexually transmitted diseases and insisting on unwanted sexual intercourse. The series of domestic awareness campaign is intended to enact a law on domestic violence soon.
