Gov't Unveils Calender Of Events For 165 Independence Celebrations

The Liberian Government has unveiled the calendar of events for this year's July 26 Independence Day celebrations which will be held in Monrovia. For the past six years it has been a tradition of the government to hold the celebrations in different counties, however due to time constraints the event will be held in Monrovia.
 
At the close of last year's celebration Bomi and Grand Cape Mount counties were selected to hold the 165th Independence celebrations but contractors who were preparing the counties said that though the funds were sufficient but the time was not sufficient enough. 
 
Yesterday at its weekly press briefing in the Charles Gbenyon Press Room of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Minister Lewis Brown unveiled the calendar of events for this year's 165th Independence Celebration of the Republic Liberia.
 
Beginning today, Friday, July 20, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. the Culture Ambassador, Julie Endee would host the Liberian President along with other international and local dignitaries at the Golden Image Awards in the theater of the Monrovia City Hall after which at 6:45 p.m. the Golden Image Awards Dinner would follow in the Ballroom of the Monrovia City Hall.
 
On Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 8:O0 a.m. – 5 p.m. the 2012 International Youth Fellowship World Camp Liberia will have a program which would comprise of lectures, sporting activities, group activities and academic performances at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. At 10:00 a.m. the President of the Republic will dedicate several national development projects in Montserrado County. At 4 p.m. Liberia Old-timers National Association (LONA) all-stars would go against Senior Professional FC at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS).
 
On Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 4 p.m. an Investiture Ceremony will be held at the C. Cecil Dennis, Jr. Auditorium in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following which a reception will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
On Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 6:00 a.m. there will be the hoisting of the national flag at 8:00 a.m. with the arrival of the President of the Republic of Liberia and Commander- In- Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia at Barclay Training Center (BTC) and review of the troops.
 
At 11:00 a.m., official ceremonies will be held at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Observance of the 165th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Liberia.  At 2:OO p.m. the Independence Day Reception will be hosted by the President of Liberia, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at the Executive Pavilion, Ashmun Street, Monrovia.
 
According to the Independence Day celebration's calendar of events, Children Parties will be held at separate locations in and around Monrovia.
