Women from across Liberia will on tomorrow gather for the All Liberian Women's Summit on tomorrow August 1, 2012 at the Monrovia City Hall to mobilize a network and serve as a powerful force in postwar transformation of the country. According to a press release issued yesterday in Monrovia, The All Liberian Women's Summit II under the theme: “The Path from Peace to Prosperity with Equity and Sustainability” seeks to address burning challenges, share new ideas and strategies, and develop action plans to move women forward socially, politically and economically.

The released noted that women drawn from urban and rural settings will discuss progress made last year, considering continuing and emerging challenges as well as set new goals for the future of Liberia.

The release said the 2011 Summit demonstrated that investing in women is not only the right thing to do, but yields the highest social return on investments. Since the Summit according to the Gender Ministry release, women have continued to work in their communities with renewed energy and commitment, playing an active role in rebuilding their country.

The Ministry added that the All Liberian Women's Summit II will further develop and extend this impact through round table discussions, evaluation of progress and planning for 2013 and beyond.

Sponsors of Summit Il, include 2011 Nobel Laureate and President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Gender and Development Minister, Julia Duncan Cassell with support from the Foundation for Women USA, Meridian Institute and Women NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL).
