MNS Turnover Confiscated Marijuana To DEA

The Ministry of National Security (MNS) on Tuesday turned over three bags loaded with marijuana to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The MNS confiscated the consignment from a passenger riding on a motorbike in the Duala Community on August 13, 2012.
Making the disclosure to reporters on Tuesday at the Ministry of National Security, the Deputy Minister for Operation, George A. Hansford said the suspect escaped with the motorbike rider. He said security officers from the MNS acted on tip-off they received and were quick to move in to arrest the consignment.
He said the Ministry will continue to be vigilant on issues that pose threat to national security and will work with other security institutions to ensure that the country remains on the right path of security- wise.
Acting Deputy Minister Hansford said in keeping with the status of the Drug Enforcement Agency, the MNS turned over the confiscated drug to DEA for proper disposal. The DEA received the three sacks of drugs from the MNS. Up to press time there was no official cash value of the drugs but unofficial cash value of the drug is said to be over 100,000 Liberian dollars.
